An ambitious plan to produce an additional storey to and art deco building in the setting of the historic Blackpool tower. The challenges were initially to obtain planning consent and secondarily to ensure that the existing building structure could withstand the additional loading.
The design of the structure was to reflect the profile of the main building but to be visually very light.
